Position Summary:
Cook/Kitchen Coach

ACE Summer camp cook position prepares breakfast, lunch, special event meals, and snacks.  This position involves meal planning, routine kitchen maintenance, school meal service management, and supervising cooking projects with children and youth.

Employment Classification: Temporary (7 weeks) July/August – (Potential to lead into a fall position)

Part Time (20 Hours/ Week) Starting Pay $10/hour

Summer Academic Camp and mandatory training (July 17- August 25)

Objectives and Responsibilities

  •   Prepare meals and snacks for the ACE Program
  •   Kitchen maintenance: dishes, wipe down appliances, keeping counters clear, refrigerators cleaned.etc.
  •   Assisting with ordering and purchasing of kitchen needs
  •   Assistance with Second Harvest ordering and purchasing of kitchen and pantry needs
  •   Complete kitchen worker training
  •   Plan meals to prepare with children (child interaction and coaching involved)
  •   Work on a program team to build and implement daily programming
  •   Work closely with Program Director for planning and implementation of program needs
  •   Some administrative assistance (recording and handling inventory/or any paperwork involving kitchen management

Qualifications

  •   Experience with meal planning desired but not required
  •   Experience cooking for large groups
  •   Strong Communication skills
  •   Experience working on a team
  •   Some administrative skills
  •   Experience working with people of various cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds
  •   Experience/ and or Enjoy working with children, youth and their families
  •   Willing to work with a Faith-based organization
