Our hearts are with the community as we all suffer through the COVID-19 Pandemic. Nehemiah has been serving and supporting the Madison community for nearly 30 years and we will continue to offer HOPE to the most vulnerable. To help ease concerns, answer questions, and continue to be of service to the community, we have set up this page that allows us to keep the public updated on our efforts to care for those most affected by the recent crisis, and how our supporters can make a difference through volunteering, virtual assistance, and donations.
Please check back often to get the latest on Nehemiah’s response as the crisis unfolds over the next few weeks.

THE IMPACT OF THE PANDEMIC ON THE AFRICAN AMERICAN COMMUNITY
Societal and Systemic Issues
It is now known, racism and microaggressions have existed for African Americans leading to increased health, economic, and educational issues, including death rates.
Personal and Medical Issues
Pre-existing health issues for African Americans make them more prone to COVID-19 related deaths. These pre-existing health also disqualify many African Americans from receiving ventilators.
Societal, Medical, Systemic Issues
Pre-existing issues continue, but are more pronounced. We must resist the temptation to only treat the residual effects of COVID-19 while ignoring existing systemic disparities that have been uncovered due to COVID-19.
