POSITION SUMMARY Description of the major goals and responsibility areas of this position:
I. LIGHT (70%)
- Coordinate, implement and/or supervise all the LIGHT after school program sites in Madison
- Organize the provision of meals for the LIGHT participants and volunteers
- Provide college preparation training and resources for participant
- Provide college tour experiences for participants at WI schools
- Offer a multi-state college tour (either as a Nehemiah program or in collaboration with another organization)
- Develop and/or implement additional curriculum such as leadership development, goal setting, life skills, character development and making healthy choices
- Develop and implement (as possible) a family component to the LIGHT program
IV. LIGHT Team (15%)
- Recruit, train and manage a team of volunteer and interns to serve as coaches/mentors
V. Nehemiah Staff (10%)
- Attend staff meetings and gatherings as available
- Submit required staff reports
- Meet with supervisor on a periodic basis
- Participate in staff development and training opportunities as appropriate
VI. Community Relations and Development (5%)
- Network for and represent Nehemiah as available and appropriate
- Assist with grant application submissions as possible
- Help obtain resources and funds for the program
Qualifications
- Experience working with youth (especially high school and college age)
- Willingness to take direction and ability to take initiative
- Good interpersonal, organizational, time management and problem solving skills
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and set priorities
- Detail oriented
- Ability to work well with others in a team environment
- Must have a high school diploma, GED equivalent or substantive work experience in the field
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office
